Financing for a nursery – what conditions must be met and how to submit an application?

Raising a child is a joy, but also a big financial challenge – especially if you use private nursery care. Fortunately, parents can take advantage of the “Aktywnie w Szłobku” (Actively in the Nursery) subsidy, which significantly reduces monthly costs. However, before you reach out for this support, it is worth finding out who is entitled to it, on what terms, and how to submit an application step by step.

Nursery subsidy – where to start?

For many families, paying for private childcare is a considerable expense. Fortunately, the nursery subsidy under the Aktywnie w człobku program comes to the rescue, which allows you to relieve your household budget by up to several hundred złoty per month. However, before you start the formalities, it is worth finding out up to what age the nursery subsidy is available, who can use it and how to fill out the application correctly.

The Active in the Nursery program is aimed mainly at parents of children attending facilities such as: Private nurseries Warsaw, and its implementation is handled by the Social Insurance Institution.

Nursery funding – up to what age?

The nursery subsidy under the Aktywnie w człobku programme is available for a child until the end of the school year in which they turn 3. In exceptional cases – for example, when a child cannot start preschool education yet – the benefit may be paid until they turn 4. So if your little one attends a nursery and meets the age requirements – it is worth considering submitting an application.

Nursery subsidy – conditions

In order to obtain funding for a private nursery under the Active in the Nursery programme, several conditions must be met:

  • the child attends a nursery, children's club or is under the care of a nanny with an activation contract,
  • parents do not collect Family Care Capital (FCC) for the same child,
  • the care facility is entered in the register of institutions providing care for children up to 3 years of age.

It is worth noting that CPR and the nursery subsidy under the Aktywnie w człobku program are mutually exclusive. This means that you have to choose one benefit – you cannot receive both at the same time.

How to apply for funding for a nursery?

If you already know that you meet the conditions – it's time for the formalities. How to apply for funding for a nursery under the Actively in the Nursery program? The easiest way is online, through:

  • PUE ZUS portal,
  • electronic banking,
  • Emp@tia portal.

The application must be accompanied by the details of the facility, the details of the parent and child, and information on the amount of the monthly fee. The system automatically checks the data, so it is important to enter it correctly. The application for funding for the nursery can be submitted from the first day of the child's attendance at the nursery.

Nursery funding – how long does it take to process?

Nursery subsidy – when will the decision be made? ZUS usually considers applications within 30 days. If there are any gaps or if there is a need to supplement, this time may be slightly longer. The application status can be tracked in the PUE ZUS system – nursery subsidy can be found in the “Family” tab.

Nursery subsidy – when will it be paid?

Nursery subsidy – when will it be paid out? If everything goes well, the funds will appear in the account by the end of the month following the month of submitting the application. For example, if the application was submitted in March, the first payment may appear at the end of April. It is worth noting that the nursery subsidy under the “Active in the Nursery” program is transferred to the bank account of the entity running the nursery, children's club or to the bank account of the day carer. It is not a payment directly to the parent's account.

Nursery supplement for whom?

Who can benefit from the subsidy? Nursery subsidy for whom? – For parents who:

  • they don't perform CPR on the same child,
  • have a child attending a registered facility,
  • bear the costs of child care.

Additionally, if the care concerns a second child, you are also entitled to a nursery subsidy for the second child – provided that you do not receive other benefits for the same purpose.
